10 iPhone Games That Are Loads of Fun

By Doug Kale

Ninjump

Price: FREE; Backflip Studios

Rating: 5 out 5 stars

Warning! This game has too much fun packed inside! You’re a strong and proud ninja that can run up the side of buildings, jump from building to building, wield a sharp sword, access ancient mystical powers to leap like a squirrel, fly like a blue bird, spin like a ninja star and so much more. Just remember to stay away from the black and blue ninja throwing stars or the black ninja running down the sides of the building. I highly recommend this one.

Alphabetic

Price: $1.99; No Monkeys

Rating 4 out 5 stars

Alphabetic is a simple game that’s highly addictive. Do you think you can spot the letters of the alphabet from A to Z very quickly? This game definitely pushes you to the limits. The letters pop up in different colors, moving in different directions and sometimes in different sizes. It sounds easy, right? Wrong. Once the letters start speeding up in becomes a tougher to spot them.

Stick Golf

Price: $0.99; Noodlecake Games

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Whether you’re a fan of golf or not, this game is loads of fun. Stick Golf contains four Course Packs and each one contains four courses carrying a difficulty level of one to five flags. You’ll be testing your golf skill levels by hitting the ball over mountains, bodies of water, down slopes, through trees and so much more. You’ll have a fun time figuring out the best angles for the ball to travel in all 16 golf courses. I enjoyed it!

Geared

Price: $0.99; Bryan Mitchell

Rating 5 out 5 stars

Here’s another simple yet brilliant game for the iPhone or iPod touch. The object of this game is to line up four different sizes of gears and connect them to one another. However, it’s not easy as it sounds. The game’s developer threw in a few obstacles into the mix and you have to work around them in order to get all of your gears connected and spinning together. This game has lots of challenges to keep your brain happy!

Freaking Inkies

Price: $0.99; Atakama Labs

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

First select the book you want to ink up and off you go trying to splatter colored ink on different colored Inkies. You shoot the Inkies using the three primary colors of ink button on either side of the screen. You can mix the colors to create new colors such as purple, green and orange that matches other Inkies. This game requires a little bit of skill and some quick thinking creating new colors. Loads of fun! You’ll love it!

Snail Mail

Price: $1.99; Sandlot Games

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Race Turbo Snail on an intergalactic runway picking up packages for him to deliver. However, you need to watch out for the salt rocks, evil slugs and holes in the highway. Jump through the red spinning rings to gain better weapons.  As you travel the highways and the obstacles become tougher and tougher to avoid. It great challenge that will have you keep coming back for more.

Quell

Price: $0.99; Fallen Tree Games

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

This has to be one of the most soothing games you’ll ever play on your iPhone or iPod touch. It’s all about moving one large raindrop on a window and trying to touch all of the pearls to complete the maze. Beware of the spikes and the green blocked off areas. There are 34 levels of the game that will keep you busy for many hours. The scenery and the music will also put you in a very Zen state of mind. Great game!

When Balls Drop

Price: $0.99; Joseph Neuman

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

When Balls Drop is another nice mellow game that will keep you busy and glued to the screen. The object of this game is to get the bouncing ball in one of five different point slots. The points range from 20 to 50 to 100. There are two different levels: Pixelation and Space. Within those two levels there are also three different game modes: Classic, Blocker and Infinity. I prefer Classic Pixelation and keep playing it until I break my high score.

Cash Cow

Price: $0.99; Chillingo Ltd

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

This game will keep you sharp on counting coins. The object is to touch a bunch of coins that equals five, 10 or 25 cents and then count up that bunch into a dollar. There are several levels of play include Arcade for a real challenge, Relaxed mode for casual playing or Quick Play when you’re on the go and need to get one addicting quick game of Cash Cow in before you move along. This game is fun for people of all ages.  The farm-type music is also fun to listen too.

Babo Crash HD

Price: $0.99; Playbrains, Inc

Rating: 5 out 5 stars

Match up three to five revolving objects to make them disappear. Some people say that the game is similar to Bejeweled. I think Babo Crash HD has gone beyond the popular Bejeweled and added features not seen in any other game. When you match four or more object together it unleashes the heroes and villains of the Babo universe. Then when you unleash enough of them then battle it in front of you. Lots of cool special effects that make you coming back for more!
