iPhone & iPad Horror Adventure App – Hysteria Project 2

Hysteria Project 2, sequel of the best horror adventure on the iOS, now available at the App Store

Hysteria Project 2 is a hardcore interactive movie that is also a 360° live-action, choose-your-own-adventure survival-horror game, with a Hitchcock feel thrown in for good measure. Hysteria Project 2 takes you on a hardcore ride where you are the hero of an entirely filmed adventure. Follow the video clips, keep a sharp eye on what’s going on around you and most importantly of all – make the right choices at the right time, or suffer the consequences and fall pray to your folly.

The game continues where the first episode ended, in the grips of hysteria and mystery that you, the hero of the game must uncover or … die. You wake on a hospital bed hazy, not remembering much of what happened to you. As you come to, you are amazed to discover that you have a tattoo on your arm, a tattoo you don’t remember getting. The clash of metal stirs you from your thoughts, you hear footsteps and they are getting stronger, louder, faster. You make out a silhouette in the distance… HE is back…

This app is available for the iPhone or iPad at $1.99.

New Kids App for iPad – The Magic School Bus

Despite more than 350,000 apps available in the iTunes App Store, a 25-year-old children’s brand focusing on science has been making a big splash on the iPad this month.  Scholastic Media’s new app “Magic School Bus: Oceans” was released Jan. 3 as part of the company’s new “Touch & Tilt” line of iPad storybook apps. “Oceans” entered the Top 10 on the App Store’s Top Paid iPad Books in its first week, and has remained there since.

Based on the popular science-based book series “The Magic School Bus” by Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen that debuted in 1986, as well as the animated television series it spawned several years later, “Oceans” takes young readers on a wild ride with iconic teacher Ms. Frizzle and her class – a field trip straight to the bottom of the ocean.  The app embodies the “open exploration” essence of “The Magic School Bus” brand, which encourages kids to “take chances, make mistakes…and get messy!”  Combining a story with more than 20 characters, virtual science experiments, live video of ocean creatures and secret games that enhance the narrative, “Oceans” is the only science-based book app among the App Store’s top sellers.

The First Full-Sized RPG Game for Android

HyperDevbox Japan is making gaming history again with the release of a new title, Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires. Spectral Souls: Resurrection is the first full-sized tactical role-playing game (RPG) for Google’s Android smartphone, and it is also the first 1-gigabyte PlayStation Portable (PSP) game to be ported on the Android. Using the latest HyperDevbox technology, Spectral Souls: Resurrection boasts these features:

 – 1 GB of data for 100 hours of game play

– 84 characters

– high-resolution graphics

– 52 different high-quality sound tracks

Spectral Souls is the first game of its genre on the Android market, and in fact on the smartphone market, according to Carlo Perconti, CEO of HyperDevbox Japan. It’s an epic good-versus-evil fantasy with an intricate story but plenty of action, and spectacular music to boot. The focus of the tale is the Seven-Year War between humans and demons, taking place in Magic Age 1053 on Neverland, “a world apart from our own, home to strange and dangerous creatures.” It should appeal to all fans of fast-moving tactical RPGs, especially those who want to take their portable gaming experience to new levels.

“We are seeking to redefine Android gaming once again after our ExZeus Arcade,” declares Perconti. ExZeus, a fast-and-furious 3D action/shooter game, broke new ground for Android games by crashing through the 10MB Android app limitation and offering 3D sound support. Spectral Souls uses the same technology but takes it several steps further. “It’s a full PSP game with high-resolution graphics, right in your pocket,” Perconti says.

Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires is remarkable not only in that it is the first big game title to be developed exclusively for the Android, but that it is not a product of one of the big studios. Its universe and characters, now well known in the gaming community, were designed by a company called Idea Factory and ported and packed for the Android device by HyperDevbox.

Though not a huge studio, HyperDevbox is poised to be a major force in the advancement of the portable gaming industry. Currently there is an open war between the Android and the iPhone, with gaming being one of the battlegrounds. HyperDevbox is right in the thick of the battle. “After ExZeus Arcade we raised the bar even higher with Spectral Souls,” says Perconti. “With this release, we think we will finally put an end to the perception that Android games lag behind those for the iPhone.”

Perconti predicts that gaming on portable devices is going to be the greatest revolution in the industry. “We believe that sooner or later a phone and a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP will be merged into a single device,” he explains. “HyperDevbox is demonstrating now that we can achieve the same quality as Sony PSP on the Android phones, thanks to our technology.”

Perconti believes that as phones grow increasingly powerful and sophisticated, there will be a demand for higher quality – and higher-priced – games. While other developers are struggling to make headway in the lower end of the market, HyperDevbox Japan is focused on the higher end, believing that the Android gaming market in particular has a robust future. Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires is the first of a planned long series of premium titles from the company.

The English version of Spectral Souls: Resurrection of the Ethereal Empires is now available, and the Japanese version is scheduled for release in February 2011.

New Soccer Performance Measurement App

Statzpack, a new and innovative measurement tool available that allows coaches and players to track their game and analyze and improve their soccer performance, is now available in version 2.0, which can be used on an iPhone, iPod Touch as well as an iPad

“We are always looking for new ways to expand and build on Statzpack,” said Mark Roberts, founder and president of Statzpack. “This new version gives coaches more flexibility in how they track the performance of their players on the field.”

The new version 2.0 features includein-flight game stats as you record, a broader range of pricing and subscription plans, and enhanced website dashboard analysis and game scheduling interface.  Statzpack held a launch party recently to unveil version 2.0 in conjunction with the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md.

Statzpack makes it easy for users to keep track of their performance data, but unlike the traditional “pen and paper” approach, it also provides colorful charts and graphs and specially designed algorithms which can help users interpret the information recorded. Teams can also collaborate to discuss how they can work together better by looking at multiple players’ performance information. Because data is stored and saved for future comparison, teams collaborate and discuss as a group to strengthen not only individual performance, but team performance.

“This is a benchmark for us in developing the software,” adds Roberts. “We hope the new features will enable coaches to work more effectively in developing stronger team players.”
